I lift up my eyes to the
hills--where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the
Maker of Heaven and Earth. Psalm 121:1-2
 | There are about 1, 760 Bo Y living in the mountains
of northern Vietnam. But the combined total Bo Y in China and Vietnam
is about 3 million. They claim to have migrated to Vietnam about 250
years ago to escape persecution from their Chinese landlords. Their
migration may have been the result of the 1797 Nanlang REbellion when
thousands of Bo Y were burned at the stake. |
 | There are two main communities in Vietnam: in Ha
Giang Province they still retain their own language, a member of the Tai
family; and Lao Cai Province, where they speak Mandarin Chinese. |
 |
The name of this people is also spelled "Bouyei." |
 | The Bo Y is clearly an unreached people group. None
are known to be Christians. They have no access to the gospel. |
