I lift up my eyes to the
hills--where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the
Maker of Heaven and Earth. Psalm 121:1-2
 | About 14, 000 Ha Nhi live in Vietnam in the rugged northeastern corner of the country.
They originally came from Tibet, and wandered through China, finally
settling in their homes in the Lai Chau and Lao Cai Provinces. Over
1.2 million Ha Nhi live in China, divided into more than a dozen subgroups. |
 |
There are three groups in Vietnam: the Akha, Lami and
the Ha Nhi, themselves. They all have a complex culture, an involved
mythology, and one of the most striking traditional costumes of Asia. |
 |
Thailand is home to about 30,000-40,000 Akha, and about
180,000 live in the Shan State of Burma. Considerable numbers live
also in Laos, where they are often called "Kha Kaw." |
 |
The Ha Nhi is clearly an unreached people group in Vietnam. None
are known to be Christians. |
