Pubiao women traditionally wear indigo blouses and dresses, highly ornamented with colorful applique panels. The arms and hems of the blouse are always decorated with various colors and they wear a blue panel over their dress in front, something like an apron, and an identical panel in back. Some groups wear the more traditional buttonless blouse, open at the front, over a second blouse that buttons under the right arm. In recent years, however, women have been wearing the second over-blouse less frequently. The hem of the dress is also edged with colored cloth which stands out against the indigo fabric. Women wear their hair wound around their head with a bun at the front held tightly by a wooden comb. When outdoors, they wear a brightly colored square headdress over their hair.
Pubiao men usually wear clothing similar to the Viet. But many wear an indigo tunic, reaching to mid thigh, often worn over blue or indigo trousers. Some wear western clothing.
